Ciara Oppenheimer

I’m an Existential Counsellor and Psychotherapist, currently completing a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. Embracing an existential framework, my therapeutic approach centres around exploring the fundamental questions of human existence in a non-judgemental space. I work integratively, therefore I may draw on person-centred and psychodynamic approaches, as well as experiential, creative and mindfulness-based methods, depending on what best supports you as an individual.

In therapy, I am interested in you as a whole person—your past, present, and hopes for the future. We will reflect deeply on your lived experience, values, and relationships, while making sense of the challenges you face. I am interested in you as an individual and your holistic experience, rather than a specific issue. Together, we will engage in a collaborative and transformative process, seeking meaning and clarity, while exploring what matters most to you.

My experience includes work in suicide prevention at Rethink Mental Illness and bereavement support at Cruse Bereavement Care, both in trauma-informed contexts. These experiences continue to shape my sensitivity to the societal, cultural, and contextual factors that influence how we experience the world. Having lived in Hong Kong, New York, South Africa, and London, I bring curiosity about the role culture plays in identity and belonging. This perspective informs my interest in issues of culture and identity.

Therapy with me is caring, collaborative, and exploratory. I am committed to offering a supportive environment where you can begin to reflect, understand, and move forward in the direction that feels right for you.
