FAQs

Why do I feel nervous about starting therapy?

It’s completely natural to feel nervous about beginning therapy. Taking the first step often means you’re about to talk about things that really matter to you, and that can feel both important and vulnerable. In fact, feeling nervous is often a good sign — it shows that this journey matters to you and that you’re ready to make space for yourself in a new way. We can also explore those feelings of nervousness together in our sessions, so you don’t have to carry them alone. Therapy is a place to go at your own pace, with support and understanding along the way.

Who can benefit from counselling?

Therapy works best when you bring your honest thoughts, feelings, and experiences into the room — even if they feel messy or hard to put into words. It’s okay to come with questions, doubts, or uncertainty; all of these can be part of the process. The more open you can be, the more space we have to explore what matters most to you. Therapy is not about doing it “right,” but about showing up as you are and being willing to reflect together. Sometimes the most powerful changes come from the smallest steps of honesty and curiosity.

How long are sessions?

Sessions typically last 50 minutes, allowing for in-depth exploration of your concerns and fostering a supportive therapeutic relationship.

Do I need a diagnosis or mental health condition to attend therapy?

No — you don’t need a diagnosis or a mental health condition to come to therapy. Many people seek support simply because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or want to make sense of their experiences. Therapy is a space for anyone who wants to reflect, grow, or find new ways of relating to themselves and others. Whatever brings you here is important, and you are welcome.

Will my therapist give me advice?

Therapy is a space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences rather than to receive direct advice. We believe that you are the expert in your own life, and the therapist’s role is to support reflection, insight, and self-understanding. Together, it’s possible to explore options and make choices that feel authentic, empowering, and aligned with what truly matters.

Is confidentiality guaranteed?

Yes, all sessions are confidential, ensuring a safe space for you to share your thoughts and feelings openly.
